Oak Class News!
Roman Baths Trip
Oak Class visited the Roman Baths in Bath city centre. It was a wonderful experience and all the children throughly enjoyed the day of learning.
The pupils had the opportunity to dress up in Roman costumes; they made mosaics; they spent time excavating for Roman objects and looking at Roman artifacts and architechture as well as tasting the waters!
Art
Oak class were busy last week creating nature sculptures inspired by the works of Dame Barbara Hepworth. She was a British artist most famous for her sculptures which had smooth shapes and curved lines. She loved nature and was inspired by the shapes and lines that she saw in it, such as hills and pebbles from the beach. Instead of using wood and stone, Oak class used cardboard. After carefully drawing and designing their sculptures from the nature they saw outside their class and in the school grounds, they then created these models which were then covered with modrock.
